Signal vs. Static
Know the difference between truth and conditioned response.
Your stress response isn't broken — it's just playing an outdated playlist.
We live in a world where everyone's an expert on their own truth. But here's the uncomfortable reality: most of what you call "truth" is actually just scar tissue from old wounds, playing on repeat. In Sanskrit, we call these scars sanskara — the distorted memories of past overwhelm that now masquerade as wisdom.
Think of it this way: your brain is like Spotify's algorithm, but instead of curating music you'll love, it's curating stress responses based on data from traumatic experiences that may have happened decades ago. Every time environmental stimuli match a previous stress event — similar sounds, smells, feelings, or situations — your nervous system hits play on the same stress track, even when there's no actual threat present.
We call these Pre-Cognitive Commitments (PCCs) — your body's early warning system gone rogue. It's like having a car alarm that goes off every time a butterfly lands on the hood.
Should's Greatest Hits
Here's where it gets interesting: conditioned responses usually come wrapped in the language of obligation. "I should feel this way." "I should respond like this." "This is how a good person acts."
But 'should' isn't truth — it's static from old programming drowning out your actual signal. That's your conditioning talking.
Most of your beliefs about how you're supposed to react, what you're supposed to feel, and who you're supposed to be are just inherited programming. They're the psychological equivalent of never updating your phone's OS because you're used to how it works.
Following these "shoulds" almost always leads to suffering. Because you're trying to force your actual experience into the shape of someone else's expectations.
Where You Stand
In the waking state of consciousness — in what we call the world of relativity and ever-change — there's no single truth for everyone because we're all operating from different states of consciousness. Even what was absolutely true for you ten years ago might be completely false today — not because the world changed, but because your consciousness evolved.
It's like trying to take a group photo where everyone's standing at different elevations. Same scene, completely different perspectives. Your truth is entirely dependent on where you're standing right now.
This is why arguments about "the truth" are mostly futile. You're not just disagreeing about facts — you're literally seeing different realities based on your current state of consciousness.
One Constant
There is only one absolute truth, and it doesn't change based on your mood, your conditioning, or your circumstances: pure consciousness itself. In Sanskrit: Sat — that which simply is.
When you practice Vedic Meditation, your individual awareness temporarily unifies with this unchanging foundation of Being. It's a direct experience, not a concept you learn. Every time you close your eyes and transcend, you're literally touching base with the only thing that doesn't shift, evolve, or get updated with new terms of service.
