Why your internal fact-checker needs a software update.
Stephen Colbert gave us "truthiness" — the quality of something feeling true without necessarily being true. What he meant as satire has become the operating system for most of human consciousness.
Your mind runs on truthiness 24/7. It feels true that you need to check your phone. It feels true that you're behind in life. It feels true that consciousness is produced by your brain.
None of these survive the data.
But here's where it gets interesting: the ancient Vedic tradition anticipated our modern truthiness problem by about 5,000 years. They developed something that makes modern fact-checking look like amateur hour.
